# Export STL

## Command Description

This command exports a 3D model to an STL file. The export can be manual or automatic on the save event. The command can be configured in the Be.Smart T4I Settings window on the Publisher -> STL tab.

1. Automatically creates an STL file from the active part or assembly after saving.
2. Sets the output folder for STL files. When empty, STL is created in the STL subfolder in the same location as the source part or assembly. 3. Sets the file format for the exported STL file. The description can be found in the [Autodesk Inventor documentation](https://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2026/ENU/?guid=GUID-68FCAD0E-93BD-4D90-B9FE-9CF82AA4E64D).

For larger files, the publishing process may take a long time to complete. In such cases, it is not recommended to use automatic on-save publishing. To speed up your workflows, disable the on-save publishing in settings and use manual publishing instead.
