To streamline your workflows and make the navigation among various T4I commands easier, we prepared a fresh new ribbon icon layout - the Compact layout. This Compact layout is a new default layout for all T4I users. But we haven't forgotten about users accustomed to the current (old) icon layout. The new Classic layout is here to ensure that their workflows remain uninterrupted.
Click the tabs and images below to view the new Compact and Classic layouts.
Generally, we took the most used T4I commands (+ some others) and hid the rest. You can find the hidden commands on the expanded panels, or (and that's one of the new features in this T4I release) grouped together in the command drop-down menu.
That's the old good icon layout with one improvement. We adjusted the Be.Smart T4I panel by moving the Edit settings command to the very left on the ribbon, adding the command to switch between layouts, hiding the iLogic commands button, and moving the Edit iProperties command to its own dedicated panel. The arrangement of commands is therefore more logical than in older T4I versions.
Be.Smart T4I and iProperties panels are common for both Compact and Classic layouts.
Switching between layouts is easy. Click the Layout command and select the Compact or Classic layout. When you switch between layouts, only the predefined set of panels is activated. In other words, we deal with the visibility of panels but not the position of individual commands.
Panels with a dash (-) symbol and iLogic Samples belong to the Classic layout.
After every Inventor (or just T4I add-in) restart, the defaults of the selected layout will be loaded. It means all the changes you made to the icon layout will be lost. But some customizations are possible, continue reading below.
We have a third (experimental) icon layout mode for you if you're keen on customizations. From the Be.Smart T4I expanded panel, run the Advanced settings command. On the General tab, select InventorControlled
. This will allow your changes to the icon layout to stay persistent throughout the Inventor sessions. When you click the Layout command on the Be.Smart T4I panel while the InventorControlled
mode is active, your changes will be reset to selected defaults (T4I will ask you first).
We would like you to participate in T4I development with us. You can use the Feedback command, now available both on the Be.Smart T4I and Be.Smart Labs ribbons, to send us feedback, ideas for development, or report bugs. A new feedback panel will open inside Inventor enabling users to easily submit feedback/ideas/bugs using our new feedback portal directly from within the Inventor environment. It's quick and easy, and you no longer need to search for it.
Feedback can be sent on various products, as the portal is not limited to T4I only.
We have improved the behavior of some commands (About, Export settings, Helpdesk web, Helpdesk, Quick Start Guide) to allow them to run without a license. This means that users will always be able to access support or export T4I settings, even without a license.
We added a missing help link to the About command.
The forgotten Align hatching command was removed from the Be.Smart Labs ribbon of the drawing environment. The command is normally available on the Be.Smart T4I ribbon -> Annotations panel.
We fixed a nice IBM437 encoding name error that prevented you from exporting a BOM to Excel.
In very rare cases, due to a bug in Autodesk Inventor, the Apply display name command may fail to change the display name for some nodes of the assembly tree. This has been registered in Autodesk as the change request INVGEN - 79037.
Open PDF file after export in T4I's publishing settings conflicts with the Inventor's PDF option Display Published File in Viewer. If Display Published File in Viewer is checked, it always overrides the settings of the Open PDF file after export. In other words, the published PDF file will always be opened in the default viewer no matter what you set for the Open PDF file after export.
Due to changes and updates that GitBook made to the online help structure, automatic Help translations from English to other languages using Google Translator temporarily don't work as expected ("Can't translate this page" error is displayed).
