# Overlay maps

The same formats (WMS / WMTS / WFS / XYZ) are used in overlay maps. Adding the overlay maps is done exactly the same way as adding background map. The only differences are found when overlay map layer has been added to the project configuration.

Overlay map -section and its options

Once an overlay map is added, it is listed in the Project configuration. Following actions can be done for the added map layers:

* Edit the name
* Copy the URL of the service
* Change the visualization settings
 * Visibility from 0 to 100, when 0 is fully transparent
 * Ordering where the smallest value is placed in the bottom and the highest on the top
 * Color (only for WFS layers) - allowing to change to color of each WFS layer
* Delete the layer

Map layer can also be deleted from the project, by clicking the trash bin. If there is a need to add more map layer, click **Add a new map** and proceed normally.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.besmart.software/be.smart-site-management/getting-started/project-set-up-in-site-management/site-management-project-configuration/overlay-maps.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
