# Creating a marking

Marking is created by right clicking the wanted location on the map and selecting by “Add a new marking”. Or with mobile device user hold finger in place and select the “Add a new marking”.

<div data-full-width="true"><figure><img src="/files/Rg1VQ1k4I3BiCu3hzbvB" alt=""><figcaption><p>Right-click dialog</p></figcaption></figure></div>

This opens a new dialog where the mandatory fields are to be filled. Site Management will give an error prompt if the any of the mandatory fields are not filled.

More information can be filled by clicking “Show more “.

There are three types of locations; point, polyline and polygon. Polygon location type allows to create a polygonal marking to certain area. User can select the coloring for outline and fill used on the marking.&#x20;

When it comes down to an attachments, there are differences between ACC and Trimble Connect version. The differences are explained in the table below.&#x20;

<table><thead><tr><th width="365">Autodesk Construction Cloud</th><th>Trimble Connect</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Add attachments from the project</td><td>Add attachments from the project</td></tr><tr><td>-</td><td>Add attachments from the device</td></tr><tr><td>-</td><td>Take a photo with the device</td></tr></tbody></table>

Biggest difference is that in ACC environment only files located in the project can be added as attachments to a marking.

Once everything is set up and the marking is ready to be published, proceed by clicking **Create marking**.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.besmart.software/be.smart-site-management/site-management/markings/creating-a-marking.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
